U-dig sweet potatoes until first frost

Fall is the time of year for sweet potatoes in every dish imaginable. I grew up with Thanksgiving always having a sweet potato casserole with marshmallow topping and pies for dessert along with baked sweet potatoes and sweet potato fries. We now try to minimize our sugar intake, so we bake our larger potatoes and fill them with mince, veggies, sour cream and butter for a delicious easy meal. We also dice up the smaller fingerling potatoes and place into the oven or crockpot. In my raw food days, I used to thinly slice raw sweet potatoes and enjoy as a crunchy snack!

Sweet potatoes must be harvested before the first frost so now is the time to DIG! Come out and join us for a fun time of digging and take home your own potatoes. This is a great activity for the family. No chemical sprays ever. The greens are edible too! $1.25/lb which is nearly half the grocery store price for organic sweet potatoes.

Store the potatoes unwashed in a cool location at home and they should last through winter. Wash when you are ready to enjoy them.

Digging times: Thursday, Friday and Saturday by appointment since we will be welcoming a new member to our family any day now. Please ring ahead 706.201.5553.
